Made a site visit with Frank of WFS and met with Pat Urban.
This is an initial offering of gloves to consider based on crossovers. Plan is to book a SWAT during Corn season to see applications first hand.

Permacon

Primary purpose of meeting was to try and find a glove that provides better impact protection for work being performed on the tumbler. Issue is pinching at fingertips.
Also looked at the general use glove.
Suggested gloves should provide more protection and should last significantly longer in the field.
Samples are being trialled and reviewed at the Mississauga site and if solutions are found here, there may be opportunity to implement same gloves at other sites across Ontario.

Davey Tree Services

Visited the Pickering site and spoke with Terry Wharram.
Currently they are using Proliner utility gloves and Ansell Powergrab
New company policy requires that a glove with no extended cuff be used for working the chipper. They are looking to try and find a glove that can be used in all applications instead of adding another SKU.

Paul Davis Systems

Met with Red Klassen - reviewed current gloves and discussed other options that would offer employees the protection and performance required.
Gloves listed here are crosses to current styles plus a couple new ones to consider.

AGS Automotive

Visited site with Frank from WFS and spent time speaking with safety, maintenance, and production managers. Primary concern is with cuts that are occurring from metal pieces being picked up and slipping through workers hands which is leading to cuts from sharp edges on the metal. Pieces often slick with mill oil.

Current glove is a leather palm, knit wrist.
Have tried a flat nitrile dipped cut resistant glove but coating became too slippery as soon as oil got on it.
Suggested cut resistant gloves here will be coated with NFN (New Foam Nitrile) which is the recommended coating for oily applications.

A few additional gloves are being considered here for other applications - welding, battery tray assembly, laser cell. Ideal would be to have it narrowed down to just a couple of styles for entire plant.

Visited site with Frank of WFS and had a discussion with Kathleen.
Looking at a glove to possibly replace McCordick leather palm as well as a snug fitting glove for new application that will be starting soon; 'Will's Glove'

Current Leather Palm Knit Wrist
Watson #3250 is a 1 piece palm vs. the patch palm from McCordick. A 1 piece palm will be significantly more durable than a patch palm because there are few stitches and seams to tear on the palm.
Watson #397x6 is an out of the box option to replace the leather palm style. Benefits of this style are many - sized for a better fit, improved dexterity, better grip, improved protection on the palm.

'Will's Glove'
Options here will provide a snug fit, good dexterity, and adequate protection. The disposables may be a great way to go here.

Made joint call with Charles Jones to review hand protection program. Goals of this review are to ensure that workers are wearing best suited gloves for the job and to consolidate number of different styles currently being ordered.

Purpose of visit was to review gloves that will offer more liquid resistance as many applications involve the hands coming into contact with coolant and other liquids. Current gloves are soaking through very quickly.
Dexterity is still important in most applications.
This mix of gloves should provide some good options for staff to consider. Once narrowed down a full scale trial can be run on the floor
